New submit form... as part of the new website!
We’ve turned the voting app, from our dev subdomain, into our actual, new website! Yes, I think we can stop with the “new backend is coming” joke running around since at least 2015. It will land on GitHub later this year, and we’ll welcome YOUR input to make it even better.
The old submit form has been streamlined into a step-by-step flow, including the ability to have drafts! This was a huge step forward in making the submit experience better than it used to be over the years. I do hope you enjoyed testing your drafts directly on the compo website.
Categories
The overall winners are shared above, while the other categories included Mobile , WebXR , and Decentralized. The first two are already available:
We still need a bit more time for the Decentralized category results as it’s actually four different challenges with their own rankings each - those will be published in a separate blog post on Monday, October 7th.
Partners
Huge thank you goes to all our Partners this year!
Those are: OP Guild, Avalanche, GitHub, Poki, Arcadia, thirdweb, OP Games, and Playhop. Plus our own brands, Enclave Games and Gamedev.js.
Gadgets galore
We went above and beyond by giving away ALL THE SWAG from all the years to top100 winners in 2024, after all you can celebrate your 13th edition only once, right?
Those will be added to the packages with t-shirts, so expect some heavy bags coming your way.
Post mortems, director’s cuts, and YouTube trailers
Don’t forget to write your Post Mortem of how the development of your entry went: what was good and what could’ve been improved. You can push those to the list on the Resources page, but also to your own entry’s page.
We now also have Director’s Cut: a url which can lead to an improved, post-compo version of your entry hosted anywhere. The third brand new option include adding a link to the video on YouTube - it could be your entry’s trailer, gameplay, walkthrough, development log, or anything else really.
Thank you for joining!
That’s it! Congratulations to every single one of you who participated by submitting a game, judging entries, giving feedback, helping others, or just enjoying the games and hanging out with the rest of the folks. I do hope to see you next time as well!
Ps. If you haven’t already, follow us on Twitter (X), Facebook, YouTube, Mastodon, join Slack (or Discord), buy swag at the Shop, and subscribe to both the js13kNewsletter and Gamedev.js Weekly one.
