IBM Developer SF team hosts weekly online meetups on various topics. Online events are one of the best ways to scale your Developer Relations program and reach developers anywhere, anytime and for a long time after the event.
The following online meetups we hosted in October 2019 with links to watch the recordings. I also encourage you to join our meetup so you will always know when our online meetups are scheduled. Our meetups are hosted by the wonderful Lisa Jung 👋.

In this online meetup, IBM Developer Advocate Mofizur Rahman showed how Istio can be used to manage traffic in a demo application running microservices. Developers also learned why Kubernetes need “service mesh” and how does Istio improve network traffic management.
⭐ AI Sentiment Analysis of Audio Streams using Nexmo/Vonage & IBM Watson (October 16, 2019)
In this online workshop IBM Developer Advocate Dave Nugent showed how to create a virtual rapporteur, a digital assistant who can join any conference call.
Developers learned how to record a conference call and provide participants with a real-time transcript and insights into the overall tone of the call by using IBM Watson, all pushed to their browser via WebSockets.
⭐ Decentralized Identity on the Blockchain with Hyperledger Indy (October 17, 2019)
Hyperledger Indy provides tools, libraries, and reusable components for providing digital identities rooted on blockchains or other distributed systems.
Developers learned about a use case of verifying identity in a supply chain with Hyperledger Indy, with Daniel Hardman, Hyperledger Global Ambassador.
The Hyperledger effort consists of multiple projects including Indy and also the popular and versatile Hyperledger Fabric. Dave Nugent of IBM walked through a summary of Hyperledger Fabric and some use cases.
⭐ Istio for DevOps and Fast Release Management (October 23, 2019)
In this online session with IBM Developer Advocate Marek Sadowski developers learned about the following Istio capabilities:
- Smart routing and intelligent switching
- Resiliency testing of an app
- Policy enforcement
- Telemetry, and reporting
