This year’s Gamedev.js Jam starting April 13th will have four optional Challenges with extra prizes, and this time you won’t be able to go for ALL of them, since using Phaser and squeezing your entry into a 13 kilobyte zip package are mutually exclusive, but there should be a lot of fun anyway!
Open Source by GitHub
This seem to be the simplest: host your entry’s source code on GitHub to get the chance of winning 10 GitHub Copilot licenses for a year, 10 GitHub Shop vouchers worth $60 each, and being featured in a dedicated blog post on GitHub’s Blog. Our expert for the challenge is Michelle Duke, GitHub DevRel and Hackathon Queen.
Build it with Phaser by Phaser Studio
As long as Phaser is your framework of choice when making games, then this challenge is a no-brainer as well. Best four entries selected by Richard Davey, the author of Phaser himself, and his whole Phaser Studio team, will win $250 each. Plus the best ten will get Vampire Survivors game licenses with all published DLCs. We will also have top picks by Emanuele Feronato , the author of multiple successful game development tutorials made often with Phaser.
NPC by OP Games
This one aims to explore Non-Player Characters (NPCs), what you can do with them, and how you can enhance them with AI and blockchain technologies. You’ll have the chance to win $1000 and a publishing deal, which will be decided by Paul Gadi, the co-founder of OP Games. There are also two extra bonuses that can increase your chances of winning: Spark and Arcadia.
js13kGames by Enclave Games
Yup, finally! It’s all mostly ME, Andrzej Mazur , juggling with all the titles: Enclave Games founder, js13kGames creator, and Gamedev.js starter. Now after four years of running Gamedev.js Jam editions I’m introducing the js13kGames challenge. You will be able to win one of the thirteen Badlucky t-shirts if you manage to squeeze your entry into a 13 kilobyte zip package within the given thirteen days. Winners will be picked automatically by Overall ranking out of all those submitted that fit the size constraint.
That’s it! Go ahead and read the details of those optional challenges and decide for yourself if you’d like to try participating and winning extra prizes. Mixing two or even three challenges at once should be totally doable, so good luck and have fun!
