In this blog post, we're putting developers front and center, showcasing how DockerCon 2023 is your ticket to a world of coding excellence.
What to Expect?
1. AI/ML Hackathon
Docker and Docker Hub are the starting point for practitioners to start their AI/ML journey and distribute their applications or models. This year, Docker is organizing an AI/ML Hackathon and encourages developers to participate in our hybrid hackathon to show off their most creative AI/ML solutions built on Docker. Docker Team favors submissions that are as close to a real-world implementation as possible, but do accept submissions that are not fully functional if they show a strong proof of concept.
2. In-Person and Virtual Attendance
The Dockercon portal allows you to choose your preferred format, whether you want to attend in person or virtually.
3. Venue Highlights
Date: October 3-5, 2023 Location: MAGICBOX, near Downtown Los Angeles, California

Explore the vibrant surroundings of Downtown Los Angeles, including historic food halls like GRAND CENTRAL MARKET, art museums like THE BROAD, and cultural gems like LITTLE TOKYO.
4. Hallway Tracks
Hallway Track is an easy way to connect and learn from each other through conversations about things you care about. Share your knowledge and book 1-on-1 group conversations with other participants on the Hallway Track Platform.
5. Theme-based Workshops
i. Getting Started with Docker
A beginner-friendly workshop covering the basics of Docker, image creation, container networking, and more. This workshop starts from the basics and provides participants with a hands-on learning experience to gain practical knowledge and confidence in working with Docker containers. By the end of the workshop, attendees will have the essential skills needed to effectively utilize Docker for application development, deployment, and management.
ii. Docker for Machine Learning / AI / Data Science
Explore generative AI, model containerization, and expert panel discussions. This workshop is a crash course on the latest generative AI developments in LLMs and Image Generation models. It gives you an overview of techniques for fine tuning generative models. It will demonstrate how to build a multi-modal use case that leverages multiple models: Stable Diffusion XL, CLIP Interrogator, Llama2 etc. You will get a chance to learn how to containerize a model using Python and Dockerfiles.
iii. Secure Development with Docker
Learn about secure supply chains, vulnerability remediation, and integrating Docker Scout into CI/CD. In this hands-on workshop, attendees will start by diving in and understanding images, setting the stage for creating organizational base images that make it easier for your developers to meet security and organizational policies. The session will dive into SBOMs, scanning, and remediating issues and how Docker Scout makes this easy for developers.
iv. Docker for Web Development
Set up Docker for web development, optimize build times, and address security concerns. In this workshop, you will learn the usage of Compose, which enables the creation of a local development environment by combining PHP APIs and TypeScript-based NodeJS APIs. It will discuss the importance of optimizing build times and utilizing Compose Watch for efficient development. To address security concerns, it explores NPM vulnerabilities and how to use Docker Scout. Additionally, it will highlight Docker Desktop Extensions for web developers.
6. Networking with Docker Captains
Dockercon provides you with an excellent opportunity to meet Docker Captains and Community Leaders who are open to engaging with container enthusiasts of all skill levels, specialities and backgrounds. By participating in the conference, you will be introduced to other conference attendees and connected with a DockerCon veteran, giving you a built-in network before you arrive in Los Angeles.
