Hi ππ½ I am Julia and for the second time I am a maintainer at this years Hacktoberfest 2023. My main project is all about accessibility, in its creation and what it is going to be about.
My aim for Hacktoberfest and open source in general is to make it inclusive for everyone, no matter their abilities, to be part of the open source community and contribute to a project they like and enjoy.
Yuris Coding Club helps career switchers to get into tech by becoming an Accessibility & Frontend Developer too - YurisCodingClub

Who I am looking for to collaborate on my projects are people with disabilities, women, career switchers in their 30+ who want to participate in open source and are often not (too) confident to participate.
Let's create a warm and welcoming community.
Projects
I am actively maintaining two projects during Hacktoberfest.
Project Accessibility Mentor
The first one with the main focus is called Accessibility Mentor. It will become a learning application showing content and videos on (web) accessibility, integrate authentication, progress, and more.
AccessibilityMentor helps newcomers as well as more experienced accessibility advocates become better in their field.
AccessibilityMentor
Mainly, AccessibilityMentor helps newcomers as well as more experienced accessibility advocates become better in their field. But actually it is much more. By contributing to the Open Source project, you will gain hands-on experience working in an agile team, improve your skills and be part of an awesome community.
Contributing
To contribute to the project, please read the contribution guideline carefully.
βΌοΈ To get more women and especially people with disabilities into tech, I always assign tickets to them first.
CodeNewbies
If you are a complete beginner in open source / GitHub, don't worry. Look at the following description on how to set up the project locally.
If you are a complete beginner in coding or open source, don't worry. Let's start with the following
Look up what semantic HTML means.
Think about what a navigation actually is (a list of links). Use the corresponding semantic HTML forβ¦
But not only the app should become a fully accessible web application but should be build in an inclusive environment as well.
Tech Stack: React, Storybook, Appwrite
Labels: Good first issues, Accessibility, UX Design, Content Writer, Tester, Graphic Designer
Project HTML Tag Quiz
This project is for everyone who just started out with coding and open source. The project is written in HTML, CSS and JavaScript and looking for coders, UX/UI Designers, and accessibility testers.
A quiz to help you learn and test your knowledge of HTML tags. Open source.
About HTML Tag Quiz
In order to become an Accessibility Developer you should know as many semantic HTML tags as possible. Let's check how many you actually know.
Design of the app
Please go to the discussions section of the project where I opened a discussion about the app's design and work together on a great design for the app.
Project update (August 2024)
Please stay tuned for upcoming updates! This project will resume very soon. π
Contributors
Community
The most important aspect of Hacktoberfest and my Open Source projects is building as a community. I want my contributors to feel included and welcomed, no matter how far they are in their coding learning journey, their abilities, and such.
I would like to promote pair programming, which would give experienced developers give the chance to mentor newbies and newbies the chance to learn something new in a professional environment.
Open issues for pair-programming:
Not only do I have issues involve coding, but also data scientists, graphic designer, content writers and much more
