Time Management As a Software Engineer.
We all have the same 24 hours. It’s the ONLY asset that is distributed equally amongst all.
Being a developer, juggling priorities is very common.
This is true whether you’re working professional or a freelancer or looking for your first JOB.
If you're a self-taught developer, like me, you’ve been doing this for a long, managing your own schedule & your 9-5.
- You have to balance your time along with the new skills.
You need to learn & the current skill you need to solidify & I know it’s not easy to get the balance right.
- Time to find your relationship with time.
Everyone you know, that you are inspired by, jealous of, has the same 24 hours.
It isn’t about time. It is something else. (ALLOCATION)
Treat your time with love & care. Learn to allocate your priorities upfront.
You must have heard this before many times since you were born.
“Time is money” yes yes, It’s somewhat right but wait.
Time has a wonderful way of showing us what really matters.
Realize that now, in this moment of time, you are reading. You are creating your next moment. That is what’s real
Don’t watch the clock; do what it does. Keep going.
But how to leverage the same then my advice for you.
You will never ‘find’ time for anything. If you want time, you must allocate time first. Time is allocation first, money later.
Before jumping to any other task, think twice next time.
The way we allocate our time defines who we are & how we will grow.
Your time is limited, so learn to allocate your time in a smart way to grow as a developer!
Be selective with whom you invest your time, bad allocated time is worse than wasted money.
Allocate your time that maximized your performance & attention.
The future of every developer is something which every developer reaches at the rate of sixty minutes an hour, whatever he/she does, whoever he/she is.
P.S. This is an excerpt from my latest book The Prime Guide For Next-Gen Developer.
It's available for pre-order now.
The book is everything you need in a typical career path of a software engineer or developer, from starting at a company as a fresher or new grad to senior software engineer.
It summarizes what I learned while being a software developer and how I mentored software engineers/developers at different stages in their careers over the last couple of years.
As a senior software engineer, I mentored dozens of software engineers, helping people level up faster. However, I still did not have a single book to recommend, which would recap the type of advice I found myself repeating.
I want to be honest with you: you will not get an overnight upgrade.
Growing and becoming better takes time, effort, dedication, and discipline, as well as reframing into a growth mindset.
You can pre-order the book here:The Prime Guide
With this link, you can get the book today for just $15.
The price goes up to $39 when it launches.
Let me know if you have any questions/suggestions about the book!
Stay awesome,
Cheers!
