Creating a Profile on Salesforce Developer Org

In the last article, I talked about what is a CRM and how Salesforce acquires the largest portion of CRM market around the globe. I even announced that I'll be posting a list of articles that will act as Salesforce Administration course for SFDC learners.

Towards that goal, this article serves as the first step. In this article, I'll be demonstrating how to open your own Salesforce Developer org so that you can practice and learn. Let's get straight into it -

Salesforce Orgs and Editions

Salesforce has multiple domains which act different and serve different purposes. The three major domains/sites are -

  1. salesforce.com - This is the edition where companies and enterprises register and buy subscriptions for their businesses. You can also signup from here, however, after 30-days you'll have to buy subscription or else your account would become useless. sfdc
  2. developer.salesforce.com - This is where you'll be signing up for your developer org. This gives you infinite validity access and you have the ability to create as many as orgs using the same email Id. developer org
  3. trailhead.salesforce.com - This is the temple for people who want to learn salesforce. This site consists of numerous challenges, projects, series, etc. and after completing each of them, you get badges and super-badges. These badges are worth mentioning in your resume. Add huge advantage! trailhead

Creating a Developer profile

Our main business in this article is with the developer.salesforce.com domain.

  1. Open this website and you will see a page like this. Click on the Sign Up button on top-right. developer org
  2. When you click on the Sign up button, a new page opens up where you need to fill up your details. Look at the picture below - sign up

Once you have signed up for the developer account, login to your org and play around it. Nothing beats the process of 'learning by doing'. Moreover, in the next article, I'll be going through objects and database tables along with navigations.
Stay tuned. Keep learning.
