Hi my name shohrab hossain , i am software engineer developement with flutter and web application and mobile app development.
in this tutorial i will show how to use flutter app with backend firebase authentication.
To implement a login and logout feature in a Flutter app using Firebase UI, you can follow these steps:
First, make sure that you have a Firebase project set up and the Firebase SDK configured in your Flutter app.
Install the firebase_auth and firebase_ui packages from pub.dev. These packages provide Flutter widgets and APIs for interacting with Firebase authentication services.
In your app, create a page or widget that displays a login button. When the user clicks the login button, you can use the FirebaseAuth.instance.signInWithPopup method to open a login flow using Firebase UI. This will allow the user to sign in using their preferred authentication provider, such as Google, Facebook, or email/password.
`import 'package:firebase_auth/firebase_auth.dart';
import 'package:firebase_ui/firebase_ui.dart';
// ...
void _login() async {
final authResult = await FirebaseAuth.instance.signInWithPopup(FirebaseUIAuthProvider.google());
// authResult contains the user's FirebaseUser instance
// You can now use this user to perform actions like update the user's profile, etc.
}
`
- To log out the user, you can use the FirebaseAuth.instance.signOut method.
void _logout() async {
await FirebaseAuth.instance.signOut();
}
- To check if the user is currently logged in, you can use the FirebaseAuth.instance.currentUser property. This property returns a FirebaseUser instance if the user is logged in, or null if the user is not logged in.
final user = FirebaseAuth.instance.currentUser;
if (user != null) {
// The user is logged in
} else {
// The user is not logged in
}
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions.
Certainly! Here are a few additional things you may want to consider when implementing login and logout in your Flutter app using Firebase UI:
It's a good idea to use a StreamBuilder widget to build your login UI, so that the UI updates automatically whenever the user's login state changes. You can use the
FirebaseAuth.instance.authStateChanges stream to get notified of changes to the user's login state. Here's an example of how you might do this:
StreamBuilder<FirebaseUser>(
stream: FirebaseAuth.instance.authStateChanges(),
builder: (context, snapshot) {
if (snapshot.hasData) {
// The user is logged in
final user = snapshot.data;
return Text('Hello, ${user.displayName}!');
} else {
// The user is not logged in
return FlatButton(
onPressed: _login,
child: Text('LOGIN'),
);
}
},
)
You can customize the appearance and behavior of the Firebase UI login flow by passing options to the signInWithPopup method. For example, you can specify which authentication providers should be available to the user, or customize the text and colors of the UI. Here's an example of how you might do thi
void _login() async {
final options = FirebaseUIOptions(
googleOptions: GoogleAuthOptions(
clientId: 'YOUR_CLIENT_ID',
),
signInOptions: [
EmailAuthProvider.providerId,
PhoneAuthProvider.providerId,
],
tosUrl: 'https://example.com/tos',
privacyPolicyUrl: 'https://example.com/privacy',
);
final authResult = await FirebaseAuth.instance.signInWithPopup(FirebaseUIAuthProvider.google(), options: options);
}
After the user logs in, you may want to navigate to a different page in your app. You can use the Navigator widget to do this. For example:
void _login() async {
final authResult = await FirebaseAuth.instance.signInWithPopup(FirebaseUIAuthProvider.google());
Navigator.of(context).pushReplacementNamed('/home');
}
