DEV Monthly Report — February 2018

Happy March! It felt like February absolutely flew by, but I suppose it is the shortest month...

Let's get to some of the highlights —

Workshops: We put together our first few live events! @ben ran a session on web performance, @cassidoo shared her love and knowledge of mechanical keyboards, @annarankin taught testing with React and Jest, and @aspittel showed how to create art using CSS. We've got more great events on the schedule, so be sure to check them out.

Path to open-source: We just invited our very first outside contributor 🎊🎊 to start looking at the core dev.to codebase. This is an important step to open-sourcing the DEV platform in the coming months. If you're interested in early access to help provide feedback, influence our direction, or help out in any other way, please fill out this form.

Sponsorships: This is our second month of working with community sponsors. Ben has the full announcement here, but I'd like to reiterate a sincere thank-you to Algolia, Triplebyte, and Manifold for backing us this month. Their support is critical to the financial sustainability of our platform.

DEV Badge: While we've mostly been heads-down in preparing to open-source, we did put together a few nice features this month. One that I'm particularly excited about is the new DEV Badge. Consider sporting the badge on your personal homepage to show off some DEV Pride 🙌🏽

Strong Numbers: Despite being the shortest month, we showed solid growth in February. We served 1.25 million sessions and have surpassed 60k registered members here in our community. Organic search traffic is also 📈 which means that more folks are discovering your wonderful articles after searching for relevant keywords.

As always, thanks so much for being part of this wild ride. Ben, Jess, and I would be happy to answer any questions in the comments section below.
