Mini Micro Game Jams and Community Projects

What is a game jam? A Game jam is an event where individuals or teams come together to create a video game within a certain time frame. Most game jams also feature a theme such as a type of game like text-based or 2d. Mini Micro's first game jam was hosted through Itch.io its theme was "small" as the creator of Mini Micro said on the game jam page:
The first game jam had a prize of $50 for first place. $25 for second place and, $15 for third place. It was judged by:
There were 10 submissions which can still be viewed here
First place was by Alardo with Small FC: 3 in 1
Second place was by Gm3 with Smoll
Third place was by Intas with Mutant Giraffes
This was only the first of many more game jams to come for not just Mini Micro but MiniScript as a whole.
One of the more impressive game jams that Joe has hosted that used only Mini Micro was the Mini Micro 1-Page Jam which was from September 6th, 2021 to September 27th, 2021.
It had 3 Entries of which they all were really good. and while there weren't many entries the Miniscript and Mini Micro community game was out in full as 97 people viewed just the post announcing the start of it. And on the discord server, everyone was in full force with reaching out for help and helping others. With some even live streaming on Twitch their progress with the game jam.
While game jams are good ways to engage the MiniScript community there are also other events and projects such as the Annual Robo Reindeer Rumble competition.
A King-of-The-Hill style tournament that usually runs through December.
Where people will write a reindeer script that can win against the default computers. and during the first one, Joe Strout took time on Monday to run each script against the previous week's submissions. And the script that does the best won for the week.
The first one was hosted in 2021 on MiniScript Forums with the 2nd one taking place in 2022.
Another great way to get involved in the MiniScript community is to contribute to community-driven projects such as Descent Into Darkness.
A "community project to develop a Doom-like fantasy RPG dungeon crawler using MiniScript and Mini Micro." Everyone contributes to the project through the Descent Into Darkness channel on the Discord server offering their ideas as well as artwork which has made the game what it is today. Many other projects are being worked on all the time with help only being a discord message or forum post away.
If you are interested in learning more about MiniScript or participating in a game jam, I encourage you to visit the MiniScript forums or Discord server. Many friendly and helpful people are willing to help you get started.
