I’m Marcus Biel, a Java developer turned entrepreneur. My journey into programming started with a deep fascination for computer science, and Java was the first language I learned. Despite my professors’ assurances that it didn’t matter which language we started with, I was determined to master Java. After about 15 years with the language, I still hadn’t mastered it, but by the time I turned 35, I felt a calling to start my own business.
My first venture was an info product aimed at teaching Java skills. This course, which you can still find on YouTube, has grown to almost 10,000 subscribers and garnered over 3.5 million views on freeCodeCamp. To better market my course, I began building a presence on social media, particularly Twitter. My efforts paid off, as I soon connected with other well-known Java developers and was invited to give talks at various events.
Over time, I established myself as a well-known Java freelancer with over 25,000 followers on Twitter. To keep in touch with my growing audience, I started a newsletter, which now boasts over 17,000 subscribers. However, I found existing email marketing tools like Mailchimp too complicated and expensive, so I decided to create my own solution.
This necessity led to the birth of the Email Marketing Saas Maildroppa. Initially a simple tool for my own use, it evolved into a full-fledged email marketing and automation platform designed for solo founders and small businesses. My goal was to make it powerful yet easy to use and affordable.
Today, Maildroppa helps numerous businesses streamline their email marketing efforts. Our platform provides robust features while remaining user-friendly and cost-effective. It’s been a rewarding journey, turning a personal need into a solution that empowers other entrepreneurs.
