"Who are you?" - a conversation with my therapist

Today I've decided to share a personal reflection instead of my usual tech-related content.
I have real concerns regarding the possibility of losing my job to AI.

Recently, I had a therapy session. And I spoke to my therapist about these worries. Now, she's not a tech expert, but she totally understood where I was coming from and told me many of her other patients are going through the same thing.

She gave me some tips that I found helpful, so I thought I could pass them along in this post.

First off, she hit me with one of those philosophical questions: "Who are you?".

So, besides the degrees, the programming skills, we were talking to the point: "you're just a hard worker".
I've been able to balance college, part-time jobs, and programming internships. Then, I've been working for +10 years. Different jobs, different challenges. Different situations.

Then, she asked me, "Has your job remained exactly the same over the past 10 years?".

I get what she meant, even though what we're facing now seems like a bigger deal? But you know what? She has a point. Throughout my career, my job has always evolved, and I've had to adapt along the way.

Another important point she stressed was that we tend to fear the things we don't fully understand. In order to find peace, I should learn to embrace these new tools.
Thing is, I've already started incorporating some of these tools into my everyday workflow, but if that alone isn't sufficient to soothe my anxiety, maybe there are other strategies I may explore.

So there you have it; my therapy session insights.
Hope someone may find this useful?
