I've arrived at my workplace. The group has a lot of life and energy. I had an excellent conversation with the team members. There are a variety of experience levels among the team members. During the induction, the moderator asked me, "Hey Harsha! Where do you see yourself in 5 years? ". All of us who joined the company as new hires are asked this question.
I replied "I want to develop a revolutionary product" . Everyone gave me an astonished look. "What revolutionary product are you going to develop?" inquired the moderator. "I'm not sure yet. However, I'll create something innovative", I claimed. Everyone appreciated my confidence.
I was overwhelmed. However, I'm not sure how, where, or what to start with. I've fallen victim to the same inquiry trap once more. A man is sitting on the window rail in the meeting room corner, peering at me. I had never met him before, so I couldn't recall his identity. After the induction was over, the man approached me and said, "Hey Champ! "What's your name?". "Harsha," I said while grinning broadly.
He inquired, "Have you decided what to develop?" I looked confused as I answered, "Yeah, I have an idea, but I'm not sure how to start developing it." "Don't think about how to do," he continued, "Better think about what to do." observing my puzzled expression. I didn't spend any time at all after listening to this; instead, I said, "Would you help me in developing it?" I should have given it another minute. However, I was asking the question out of sheer enthusiasm at the time.
Fortunately, the guy responded, "Bring me your idea," showing enough patience to control my excitement. I'll support you in realizing the concept." Fantastic, my question received the anticipated response. I now have to clarify what I intend to develop.
Abhimanyu, one of my best friends from college, called me out of the blue. He gave me a call to wish me luck on my first day of work. From the day I arrived at college, Abhimanyu and I shared a room. Although he holds a degree in mechanical engineering, his interest in social work has grown as a result of a guest lecture by our district's District Superintendent of Police. So he made the decision to sit for the UPSC exams in order to join the IPS.
