โœจ The quickest way to find Hacktoberfest projects ๐Ÿš€

Hey friends, ๐Ÿ‘‹

If you missed my previous articles, we have recently built a simple way to find all the projects that welcome contributions for Hacktoberfest.

Let's look into it together๐Ÿ‘‡

๐Ÿค” But first, why did we build this?

At Quira.sh, our mission is to help developers build and monetise their reputation.

We can now measure a developer's reputation in open source by quantifying the impact of their contributions on GitHub (we call this the DevRank).

If your DevRank is high enough, you can monetise your developer skills through something we call Quests (if you are interested in this, after signing up and clicking on "Quests" you can join the waitlist to be the first to access it).

To build up your DevRank in open source, you need to find the right projects to contribute to. This is why we built up a tool for you to find the right project to start working on!

Since you also get rewarded for contributing to Hacktoberfest repositories (via Digital Ocean's reward packs as well as a DevRank increase through Quira), we thought the community would enjoy being able to find them easily. ๐Ÿ™

๐Ÿ” So, how do I find the projects that participate in Hacktoberfest?

After signing up to quira.sh, head over to "Contribute".

(Btw, I just have to mention this since some people have asked me, "Yes, the platform is entirely free" ๐Ÿ˜„).

We have indexed hundreds of thousands of repositories you can contribute to. You can filter based on your language of preference and find projects that fit your interests (inside the topic bar).

Now, there is the filter option called "Hacktoberfest".

Upon clicking on it, you will be shown only the projects that welcome contributions as part of Hacktoberfest!

Without focusing on the filter, you can also find which projects belong to it by checking for the small "H" logo on the top right.

As long as the repo has the Hacktoberfest icon on it, this means the repository participates in the event.

If you are ready to contribute to projects, head over to quira.sh to pick your new hacktoberfest contribution.

I hope this brought you some value today, and I will see you in the next one. ๐Ÿค—

Your dev.to buddy,

Bap
