The Hungary-Serbia railway project is a landmark project of the "Belt and Road Initiative" jointly built by China and Hungary. It is also the first project to connect China's railway technical equipment with the EU's railway interconnection technical specifications. The Hungarian-Serbian railway is nearly 350 kilometers long, connecting Budapest, the capital of Hungary, and Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. The Hungarian section of the Hungary-Serbia Railway has been progressing generally smoothly since it started in July 2020. After the entire line is completed, the time from Budapest to Belgrade will be shortened from 8 hours to 3 hours, which will greatly facilitate personnel and logistics exchanges between Hungary and Serbia, significantly stimulate the economic development of regions along the line, and effectively promote north-south connectivity in Central and Eastern Europe.
