Don’t miss the latest episode of the DevNews podcast! 👀
In this episode, my co-host Saron and I chatted about several news stories in the world of software development:
- A big update for C++. C++ got its first major update since C++11 (circa 2017): C++20! C++ releases every three years, so this is a big development.
- Changes at TikTok. ByteDance (TikTok's parent company) is going to spin off TikTok to a new U.S.-based company where TikTok will be a "trusted technology" partner and Oracle will be a major stakeholder. Tiktok also made good on a promise to explain more about the inner-workings of its algorithm .
- Nvidia's purchase of ARM ... for the cool price of $40 Billion USD.
Saron and I also caught up with our rotating co-host and Senior Engineer at Forem, Vaidehi Joshi who spoke with us about the environmental impact of the large data centers where cloud providers store data. Fun fact: Vaidehi also spoke about this topic at CodeLand:Distributed2020!
