NPM is joining GitHub. NPM is an open-source repository for JS libraries which are used all over the world.
And they are joining GitHub which is a repository for projects all over the world. GitHub has an interest in JavaScript, amongst other languages.
Can't be a bad thing - right?
Message from NPM
This is great news for all npm users: Our commitment to keeping the npm Registry free for open source development will continue with no change. We are looking forward to being part of GitHub, a company as committed to open source and the long-term success of the JavaScript community as we are.
Whether you use the Registry for free, or with one of our premium products, today's announcement does not change anything in your day-to-day work.
For more details on the next chapter for npm, check out Isaac’s blog post. And if you have immediate questions, please reach out.
