Snort is primarily developed using the C programming language, along with some components written in C++.
Cisco is the parent company of Snort, after acquiring Sourcefire in 2013, the organization responsible for Snort's development.
Overview:
Snort is a powerful network intrusion detection system (NIDS) that monitors real-time network traffic to identify and prevent attacks using signature-based detection. It's widely used for tasks like analyzing network traffic, logging packets, and preventing intrusions.
Logo:
Snort is an open-source tool, available for free under the GNU General Public License (GPL). However, there are also commercial versions and support options provided by Cisco for enterprise-level users.
